NANJING, China and SANTA CLARA, Calif., Oct 19, 2020 – Aeonsemi, an innovative supplier of mixed-signal communication ICs, today announced the launch of their AS500x Arcadium™ series of high performance programmable oscillators. Capable of generating any frequency from 10 kHz up to 350 MHz while achieving 350 fs rms phase jitter and better than ±50 ppm total stability across the extended industrial temperature range, Arcadium™ oscillators are a perfect clock source for servers, AI processors, network interfaces, edge computing, in‑vehicle‑networking, and a wide range of industrial applications.
The global oscillator market size is estimated to reach $3.2 billion by 2022 according to Allied Market Research, with trends in edge computing and automotive applications pointing to a growing demand for oscillators with high reliability and low cost. The current oscillator market is largely served by crystal-based oscillators, a technology that has remained stagnant for almost 100 years. Arcadium™ oscillators are pure CMOS oscillators that leverage advanced circuit innovations and compensation algorithms to achieve excellent phase jitter and frequency stability while providing greater reliability than their crystal-based counterparts. Furthermore, their wide range in frequency programmability and flexible output driver configuration allows customers to consolidate component libraries and streamline product development.
“Arcadium™ oscillators resolve the severe limitations of fixed frequencies, flexibility, operating temperature, and pin control functions in legacy crystal oscillator technology,” points out Yunteng Huang, CEO of Aeonsemi. “Unlike competing solutions, Arcadium™ oscillators are monolithic integrated circuits with no mechanical moving parts!”
For easy adoption, Arcadium™ oscillators are offered in three configurations: 1) AS5001 fixed frequency oscillators supporting fast and frequency-independent lead times; 2) AS5002 pin controllable oscillators consolidating up to 9 frequency and output format combination profiles in one device; and 3) AS5003 I2C digitally controlled oscillators that enable fast frequency programmability and fine digital tuning capabilities. All products support LVDS, LVPECL, HCSL, CML, CMOS, and dual CMOS output formats, and are available in 6‑pin packages that are compatible with industry standard footprints of 3.2 x 2.5 mm and 5.0 x 3.2 mm oscillators.
